Question: Bug or Feature?
Changes to the simple options are not registered when I switch to advanced options. E.g. I want the TOC to appear in all views and I changed that in the simple options. But as soon as I save any changes in the advanced options it reverted back to "only in single post views".
Maybe this is related to the fact that the simple options page is not localized.

The drop-down changes meaning. If the post is in a series, that drop-down is a list of posts -- this is how you reorder a post to an arbitrary position within the series. If the post is not in a series, then the drop-down is a list of existing series (and the text box appears after it so you can create a new series). There is a column in the "manage" tab for posts that will allow you to see whether or not a post is in a series, and if it is in a series, which series.

As to why an existing series would not show up in the drop-down: the most common cause for this is that the post author is different from the author who created the series. Verify that you don't have more than one login, or anything like that.

Hi, sorry to see that you're not going to be able to help with this anymore! I think it fills a HUGE hole in how WP (doesn't) work - what kind of publication throws series articles out in any order that they were received from the authors? If you're writing a series, you write all the articles as information comes in, you don't hold up the entire set because you're waiting for a research point on article 2 to be clarified.

Anyways, I just installed it today on WP 2.5, and if you're in the mood to answer a question, I've got one.

I found that when I applied a series name and chose First for the first article (in a previously created series), it worked fine. But when I tried to choose the same series for the second article, it didn't have the new series name in the dropdown? Also, it only had First and Last radio buttons on the second (or any) article, so I'm not seeing how I could choose the order.

Am I missing something here? I read through the documentation and it looks like it just isn't getting the new series.

Thanks for all of your hard work on this!

Thanks for the hard work you have put into this. I didn't realise that you didn't even us it yourself! Truly a work of love.

I'll certainly keep on using it until WordPress takes a step too far, and then I guess I'll have to transition to the Organise Series plugin. That's not a scenario that I face with much relish. Or even a dab of mustard. :)

Don't hack the theme; use the 3.1 Beta and set up appropriate templates for multi-post vs. single views.

Thanks for all your hard work and dedication over the years with In Series - it is a fantastic plugin and I really hope someone steps forward to take up the development, as you did in the past.
Best wishes
