Happy New Year!
Hey folks. Just want to let everyone know that yes, I am still alive. :)
I’ve been absorbed in work since it started back up, so I’ve been neglecting my posts and focusing on learning the finer points of C# and the .NET CLR. I’ve also been trying my hand at doing a little bit of WinForms programming (and managed to even find a couple bugs in Mono in the process — a NullReferenceException and an event not firing). So I’ve been doing things… just not reporting them at all.
I’ve also got a little fed up with WordPress development; felt too much like talking (or yelling) at a brick wall. Lack of transparency and lack of good communication made it too frustrating for me to even be on the development mailing list anymore; it ate too much time out of my day, and I could feel my blood pressure rise just whenever my “new mail” indicator went off (and increase further if it was actually an e-mail for that list). Consequently, a bit of the passion I had for the platform, as well as for the plugins, sort of died off. I can completely understand why the Habari folks split off the way they did, now.
Ugh. New year’s resolutions… I really should get In Series 3.1 polished up, tested, and shipped this year. And I should write more non-In Series-related articles on programming, testing, and so forth. And I should post regularly, too — at least once a week. Let’s see how well I’ve done with these come 2009. ;)

Hi
Happy new year to you too.. Its been very long since I’ve actually visited your blog (courtesy the wordpress auto update notification system) but I still remember how you helped me configure inseries v2 way back in 2006.
I’m really glad that you are still working on the in-series project given your frustrations with WP development. Just thought I’d write in a few good words appreciating your contribution to the WP universe. Hope it makes you feel good and have a really great year ahead

Hey Vishwas, good to see you again. :)
I’m certainly not going to stop supporting In Series just because I don’t particularly like the WordPress ecosystem. I feel that would be taking it out on my users more than anyone, and that would be totally unfair — it’s not their fault that WP is developed the way it is. I’m just not going to be ahead of the curve supporting new WP releases, or fighting for more stable APIs, or filing WP bugs. I just hope that the WP crew doesn’t make supporting multiple versions of WordPress any more difficult than it already is.
Thanks for the kind words. My users are my joy, and I’m happy when I hear that they are. :)
