A Grand says 3.0 by April 9

Sorry things have been slow this week, folks. I am still alive, and plodding away at 3.0. I had yet more crap to move into my apartment last weekend (I’m an atrocious procrastinator ;), so I didn’t get too much done during what’s usually my largest block of uninterrupted coding time for the week. That said, I do have one very special thing that’s ready to be unveiled… but I’m not going to spill the beans until I release 3.0. It’s something that I’ve wanted for a while — and hopefully, it’s something that all of you will find useful, too. The only hint I’m giving is that my web host was really friendly and accommodating in regards to installing some pieces that required root-level access. So friendly, I’m thinking about pushing my luck and seeing if I can’t get something else crossed off my wish list… but that’s another secret for another day (wouldn’t want to get hopes up on that one anyway ;).

Now, down to the serious stuff: I’ll cut (tag in the SVN repo) a fully functional 3.0 by 00:00 Monday, April 9. Period. “Fully functional” is defined by my 3.0 checklist (the top list, not the bottom one), though I will reserve the right to cull certain sub-items. I refuse to let the software stay in limbo, because I just know I’ll let it stay there indefinitely if I don’t motivate myself. If, heaven forbid, I miss my target, I’ll “buy” copies of 40 of my favorite open-source programs (and/or distributions) with a $25 donation to each. But hey, I’m going to hit my deadline, so there’s nothing to worry about. :)

I fully understand how life can get in the way of projects. Happens to me all the time. I’m still here watching and waiting :)
