Watch for Me 1.0.0
XChat, for all its benefits, has a pretty lousy notification system. Saying /notify SomeFriend is easy enough, but the problem is that “SomeFriend” is unlikely to have the same nick across servers — and XChat applies the notify list to all servers that you log into. Furthermore, if you’re paranoid (like me), it’s quite apparent that this notification method leaks information; every server that XChat connects to gets your full list of contacts across all servers, and this could conceivably be used to your disadvantage. Watch for Me does the Right Thing, and keeps notification lists on a per network basis.
Watch for Me has a very simple interface: use /lnotify <nick> (with multiple nicks, if desired) to toggle the watch status for the given nick(s). Typing /lnotify by itself produces a list of online users (and, if the network is ISON-based, offline users too; this idiosyncrasy is a bug). Watchlists are automatically persisted across sessions, with each watchlist saved in its own file in your XChat data directory (watchlists are named <network>.wfm).
